A rare original World War II United States Navy issue spyglass in its original wooden oak case. The oak case has original two hinged brass metal locks, and original attached metal plate marked U.S. NAVY SPYGLASS QUARTERMASTER MARK II 16 POWER BU SHIPS SERIAL 15836 1942 CONT. NO. NXS-8533 CHEMICAL & MFG. DIVISION HAYWARD LUMBER & INV. CO. LOS ANGELES. The black metal spyglass has decorative outer metal roping grip across the length of the body, and the eyepiece is marked similarly to the oak crate, as above. The spyglass measures 31.25"L. The wooden carrying crate measures 32.25"L x 5"W, and includes two metal hinge locks.
