Description
An original large antique monochromatic print produced in 1877 from an earlier ca. 1800 engraving. Entitled and inscribed THE EARLY BREAKFAST. LONDON, PUBLISHED DEC. 27TH 1877 BY L. BRALL & SONS, 38 HART STREET, BLOOMSBURY, W.C. Depicting a crowd of travelers and servants seated and milling about the common room of an English inn, ca. 1820. Excellent details in the facial expressions of each person illustrated, depicted from a variety of early 19th century walks of British life. L. Brall & Sons was a Victorian publishing firm, owned by Louis Brall and his son, W.H. (and possibly his daughter, Ada, too), founded in 1866 and recorded as entering bankruptcy in 1892. Presented in a linen matte with gilt trim, and custom dark wood frame.
