Description
Custom vintage 14kt gold bouquet with rare mixed-cut hearts.
Produced by and marked TRABERT & HOEFFER-MAUBOUSSIN, the legendary Chicago-based maker of fine and custom jewelry since 1926, following a brief partnership with the bespoke Parisian jeweler Mauboussin, from 1935 to 1953. Dated to approximately 1950, this example of their work is formed from 14kt gold (acid touch tested) as a spill of bejeweled sprigs in a gold scrolled ribbon-bound bouquet. Notable for its use of 5 extremely unique mixed-cut pink Tourmaline hearts (estimated at 4 ct each, 11mm L x 10mm W x 7mm D) with a carved, cab-cut table and faceted, keeled pavilion, offering unusual brilliance for such a cabochon cut. 33 round brilliant cut Sapphires (estimated total 2.5 ct, average 2mm W) complete the effect. Total weight of gold with stones, approximately 38.9 g. Twin sprung gold pins with locking clasp. Minor age related wear, unpolished. One sapphire exhibits a shallow pavilion and slight color shift, indicating the possibility of replacement- passes thermal testing consistent with neighboring sapphires. All estimations of weight, size, and karat are approximated to the best of in-house inspector's capacities, and open to inspection or condition reporting on request.
Issued: c. 1950
Dimensions: 2.75"L x 1.75"W x 0.75"D
Manufacturer: Trabert & Hoeffer-Mauboussin
Country of Origin: United States
