Description
King James I (1566-1625) figure made in a limited edition as part of the Stuarts Series.
With Royal Doulton mark. The House of Stuart (or Stewart) was a royal house of the Kingdom of Scotland, later also of the Kingdom of England and the Kingdom of Ireland, and finally of the Kingdom of Great Britain. Mary Queen of Scots adopted the French spelling Stuart while in France to ensure that the Scots Stewart was pronounced correctly. The House of Stuart ruled the Kingdom of Scotland between 1371 and 1707. The Stuart Era spanned from 1603 to 1714. It was one of the most turbulent periods in Britains history, yet one that saw the nation take its first steps on the way to becoming Great Britain; the foremost power in Europe and later the world. These Stuart Kings and Queens would influence an empire like no other. Created in fine bone china, this impressive series was first introduced in 1986 and was only available through mail order. Today, these Stuart Kings and Queens are some of the most sought after figures in the Royal Doulton range. #kingjamesI #kingsofengland
