Description
1 Large 18th century colorful and verbal hand painted button.
Here is a rare example of 18th century art and craftsmanship. The hand painted flowers and French flags with the Liberty cap all under glass surround the sign with the words :14 Juillet 1789" which translated is July 14 1789. That date lives in infamy as it was the day that the French prison, the Bastille was stormed during the French Revolution. The button came from the collection of Viviane Ertell, author of "The Colorful World of Buttons" book. and was given to me to auction by a relative.
Issued: DIVISION 1=PRE 1918 AND DIVISION 3 IS AFTER 1918
Dimensions: SM=Less than 3/4", Medium=3/4" to 1 1/4". Large=1 1/4" and above, extra large=1 3/4" and above
