Apollo Astronaut Edgar D. Mitchell served as Lunar Module Pilot on the Apollo 14 mission. Mitchell was the 6th man to walk on the moon, where he and Astronaut Alan B. Shepard, Jr. worked on the surface of the Moon for 33 hours. Their moon walk traversed the longest distance by foot. Over 100 pounds of moon rock and soil samples were collected to take back to Earth during their lunar surface activities.
