Fabulous art pottery vase characterized by a white glazed face with simplified facial features and bewildered expression. Hand-built clay coil body with a flattened cylinder shaped base ascending to a rounded face with pinched horns to rim. Rough textured red and white glazes used with brown tones. L'atelier Dieulefit inscribed to base, which is the city in which the artist's studio was located. Jacques Pouchain is an institutionally recognized painter, sculptor, and ceramicist and has been featured in many major art museums including the Museum of Modern Art of Paris. He is well known for creating utilitarian art objects and abstracted works.
