Jay Weaver was a mid-20th century American artist who worked in Oklahoma and New York between the 1930s and the late 1950s. Weaver artworks are rare today, with only 11 known to have been offered at auction prior to 2023. Realized prices have increased over the years from $350 to the record $2,250 paid for Pointer - Head Study in 2019. Weaver is known for both country scenes and for his striking portraits of humans and dogs, in which he utilized color and shading to convey lifelike facial expression. The artist died in 1960.
