Antique early 20th century audio and decor with original records.
A historic and antique original early 20th century Edison Home Phonograph machine, including separate removable brass metal sound reproducing horn and separate removal side crank. Rich antie patina. Presented with its original custom built oak wood six drawer dresser console cabinet with scrolling metal knobs. The drawers are specially fitted with individual interior wooden pegs to accommodate 80 original wax recording cylinders. Exquisite incised scrolling flora to lower sides of cabinet. The name phonograph, which was invented by Thomas Edison, indicates that it was manufactured to play sounds using wax cylinders, as contrasted with a gramophone, an alternative to the phonograph that would later replace it, which refers to a machine that plays sounds using vinyl records. Each wax cylinder was produced to hold a maximum of 4 minutes of sound. The last embossed patent date on the manufacturer plate is from 1898. Separate locking wooden cover. 18"L x 9"W x 12"H, Phonograph in case. Previously part of a private collection, this group has never before been offered for outside sale.
