Title: La Banlieusarde (The Woman from the Suburbs). Ink wash on watercolor paper illustration. A beautiful gestural sketch of a woman reading a newspaper aboard a train. Artist initials on lower right with date 1936. Title and esquisse printed in pencil on bottom mount border. Cream colored matte with a simple and elegant gold line border. Gold finished wood frame with bead texture trim. While little is known about draughtsman and illustrator Robert Jeannisson, his works documenting the ordinary lives of French people allow viewers a glimpse into the brief respite between WWI and WWII in France. Jeannisson's work can also be found in a deluxe album, titled Marches et Foires de Paris (Markets and Fairs of Paris). Sight size: 12.25"W x 18.5"H; frame: 14.5"W x 20.5"H x 0.75"D.
