Hand-colored engraved print on paper featuring a Cayenne Dove. Printed script from left to right, top to bottom: die rothe Kayennische Taube. T.CLXXI; Buff. N.d. Vogel VI.T. Print encased in red and gold brushed wood frame with double marble green and brown matte border. Print from book titled Herr von Buffon's Natural History of Birds. Georges-Louis Leclerc, Comte de Buffon was a distinguished French naturalist in the 18th century. His research and theories surrounding the natural sciences provided a foundation for many naturalist's work during the 18th century, including Charles Darwin.
