Description
Four Sets of Original Hand Drafted Technical Schematics from Grumman Aerospace regarding “Avionics”, “Water Supply”, “Excess Water Dump” and “Cabin Air”, as developed by Grumman for NASA as part of the Space Shuttle Development Contracts in 1972. Grumman became a key player in space technology as the company designed and built the Apollo Lunar Module that was used for the moon landing. In the Post-Apollo era, NASA issued a development contract to Grumman under its new Space Shuttle program to design and develop an Orbiter vehicle which could be reused on multiple missions. These extremely rare original schematics are part of the master plans drafted by Grumman under the NASA development contracts. The plans are entirely hand drafted in pencil on a delicate ivory tinted trace paper which was a common medium used by engineers for drafting technical documents. This document still has portions of border drafting tape that was applied to the surface of the drawing. Written in pencil in the lower right-hand corner of each document is and date and “Prepared by H. Gerner.”
