Full title: The Theory of the Heavens & the Earth explained according to the several systems. An astonishing museum-quality historical diagram of an orrery created with beautiful and intricate artistry. The center illustration shows a model of the planets and other heavenly bodies within our solar system mounted on an intricate base with images of astrological symbols. Figs 1-4 demonstrate a geocentric primum mobile, Tycho Brahe's model, an astrological chart with a list of secondary planets, and a list titled Revolutions of Primary Planets round their orbs. Text on lower border reads, "ngraved for the Universal Magazine 1749 for J. Hinton at the Kings Arms in St. Paul's Churchyard London. Originally printed for the Universal Magazine of Knowledge and Pleasure (active 1747-1814), a successful periodical during its time created by John Hinton. A fascinating piece of history considering these periodicals and books were the only way the Western general public could educate itself about science's most recent discoveries.
