Antique map of Ethiopia partially hand-colored engraving on paper by one of the most influential Dutch cartographers of the 17th century, Jan Jansson (Johannes Janssonius.) Aethiopia Superior vel Interior; vulgo Abissinorum sive Presbiteri Ioannis Imperium includes numerous exotic animals decorating the largely unexplored interior, and a decorative title cartouche with a native family. In graphite below map: Document grave en 1640. Afrique. Sticker on verso: Thomas Co. Picture Framing, Washington D.C. Housed in a gilded and black wooden frame.
