Very rare antique handcolor engraving entitled Le Pais de Canaan Travesre par Nostre Seigneur Jesus Christ (The Land of Canaan Traveled over by Our Savior Jesus Christ and by His Apostles) originally created by Nicolaes Visscher I, a prominent Dutch cartographer and engraver from the Golden Age of Dutch cartography. Visscher was known for his meticulously detailed maps and decorative elements, often blending cartographic precision with artistic flourishes. Nicolaes Visscher I was part of a renowned family of cartographers, and his works frequently focused on historical, religious, and geographic themes. This map is a fine example of the craftsmanship of the Visscher family, showcasing both religious imagery and the geographical representation of the biblical land of Canaan.
