Description
A finely crafted Louis XVI-style secretaire cabinet, made in Egypt and distributed by Worldwide Antiques. This exquisite piece features a fall-front writing surface revealing a fitted interior with small drawers and a central open compartment. The cabinet is adorned with elaborate floral marquetry, depicting urns and floral motifs set within gilt-bronze beaded borders. The top and lower cabinet doors are further decorated with intricate foliate garlands and ribboned wreaths, highlighting the exceptional craftsmanship. The cabinet is framed by gilt-bronze caryatid mounts, accentuating its neoclassical influence, and further embellished with an ornate bronze lion's head escutcheon at the lower apron. The brass-inlaid molding and detailed cast bronze appliqus showcase the level of artistry typical of 19th-century French furniture, replicated in this finely constructed Egyptian-made example. The interior lower cabinet provides additional storage with two shelves, while the upper section includes a writing compartment with small drawers and a shaped central niche. The cabinet stands on bracketed feet, further enriched with bronze mounts.
