Charming hand-painted Limoges porcelain trinket box in the form of an open book featuring an insect study theme. The lid showcases beautifully detailed illustrations of a butterfly, dragonfly, and ladybug, alongside handwritten French script. A miniature metal magnifying glass and pointer are affixed to the surface, adding to the scholarly motif. The interior is adorned with a painted ladybug, and the underside of the lid bears the hallmark Peint Main Limoges France along with the La Gloriette maker's mark. The exterior spine mimics the look of a bound book, and the box is secured with a decorative brass clasp.
