A commemorative print titled A Christmas Eve Prayer from Lunar Orbit, issued to honor the historic Apollo 8 mission. This print features the prayer delivered by astronaut Frank Borman on December 24, 1968, as the crew orbited the Moon. The piece is autographed by John Glenn, one of America's most celebrated astronauts, in blue felt tip with a personal inscription. It also bears an Apollo 8 commemorative stamp with a First Day of Issue cancellation from May 5, 1969, Houston, Texas. John Glenn (1921-2016) was a pioneering American astronaut, military pilot, and statesman. In 1962, he became the first American to orbit the Earth aboard Friendship 7 during NASA's Mercury program. Glenn later returned to space in 1998 aboard the Space Shuttle Discovery, becoming the oldest person to fly in space at age 77. His contributions to space exploration and public service remain unparalleled. The Christmas Eve Prayer was part of a live broadcast from Apollo 8 as it orbited the Moon.
