Description
A printed commemorative poem titled "Brothers In The Eternal Cold" by Archibald MacLeish, created to honor humanity's first journey to the Moon during the Apollo 8 mission in 1968. The poem reflects on the profound perspective gained from seeing Earth from space-a small, fragile world suspended in the vastness of the universe. The print is autographed by astronaut Rusty Schweickart in black ink and features an Apollo stamp with a postmark from Kennedy Space Center, dated August 2, 1971. Rusty Schweickart (born 1935) is an American astronaut who flew as the Lunar Module Pilot on Apollo 9, the first crewed flight of the Lunar Module. Schweickart is also well known for performing the first spacewalk during the Apollo 9 mission, a key test in preparation for the Moon landings. His contributions to space exploration and his role in advancing astronaut safety and technology made him a significant figure in the Apollo program. This lot includes a RR Auction Certificate of Authenticity, verifying the signature's authenticity.
