Neoclassical styled patinated plaster, presented on a black base.
A museum reproduction of the monumental bust of Asklepios (Asclepius), Greek God of Healing. The original upon which it is based, the Asclepius of Milos or Asklepios of Melos, dating from 325-300 BCE, is a marble head from a once colossal ancient Greek statue of Asclepius on the Greek island of Milos. It was acquired by the British Museum in 1867. Reproduced in fine patinated plaster on a black base with chiseled effect by Alva Studios (fl. 1948-1990). Marked to back � 59 ALVA STUDIOS. 7.75"H, bust without base.
